difficult to set up in Clamp, recommend removing thumb knob for sharpening entire blade length

Authors Comments:
nice knife for an office enviroment (not too threatning) seems to hold the edge pretty well with minimal touching up so far. Haven't used it for anything heavy duty yet, though.

Authors Comments:
Fred Perrin is an ex-special forces France knife designer and he has made a scary little knife here. It is full flat ground, so needs special attention when mounting. I use chamois to fill the voids.

Authors Comments:
Tape thumb studs because stones may rub them. S30V is some hard steel!. Great Tanto Shape. My Favorite Blade!

EDC (Every day carry)
Authors Comments:
After several months of experimenting, I've settled on 17 degrees for this knife. It gives great performance and holds its edge well. I keep it pretty polished for show and sometimes it's a little too smooth for the work it does so I might put a slightly toothy, almost invisible micro-bevel on it.

Authors Comments:
I originally created the bevels at 18 degrees and polished them to .5 microns before adding a micro-bevel at 19 degrees with the 1600# ceramic stones to give a mirrored bevel and slightly reduced shoulder while making the actual edge a little wider and giving it some micro teeth.

Authors Comments:
I've experimented with this knife many dozens of times over the years. My conclusion is that the steel won't hold well under 20 degrees. It's important to treat the blade in two sections to preserve the tanto geometry. I don't recommend a convex edge because of the loss of some of the precision cutting. It's an excellent EDC, especially for any utility work.
