i manage to take several large chunks out of my strops first time i used them theres not a lot of room for error ,, in theory if you get the micro fines at .6 µm its as fine as stroping anyway .. although i am a newb so this just my opinion...

Hi I am very new to wicked edge system and am very pleased i just could not get my knives right with a stone .. however did notice how much play was in the original arms / joints and this i thought could possibly affect the angles , so i hd a go at improving them

so i made up some new arms out of 1/4 " bar (the old ones are 6 mm ish) and some new joints

this made sharpening feel much more positive and can only help (i think)

Hi and thanks ,, i think i will get the 1 and .5 um strops when i order the microfines then and try with and without as you suggest .

Hi all newb here ,,
I am thinking of getting the microfine stones already have 1200/1600, do i still need to strop after the micro fines ? im sure i read somewhere the microfine fine is .5 micron if so why would you still need to strop ?
