Hi Everyone,

Im new to the knife sharpening world and have been looking at the varous sysyetems on Youtube etc, I am now going to order the wicked edge Pro 1 system and a set of 1200/1600 stones, wil that be enough to get me started? I use my knife for hunting and have had good success with the lansky system but want to get something abit better now.

Also can any UK members tell me how they purchased there systems? I tried on line from the USA site today but shipping was >$300 a bit too much I think??

Any way hope to be posting in the future and reading the various posts for advice tips etc,

I think a PP1 with 1200/1600 would be fine.

In the USA we can get a 12" x12" granite slab for free (scrap piece) and pay about $10 per foot to finish the edge. If that's the same in Scotland you can make a base for decent price. Or like Chris said use any type of cutting board. Some guys mount them direct to a work bench.

Good stuff Les, a heavy base (like stone) offers no movement while we work away at our knives.

My first base was a light wooden block, but even with light pressure it would move around.
