I recently purchased the WE40 pro pack with base at the recommendation of a friend who produces custom hunting knifes . There is definitely a bit of a learning curve so its great that WE includes a practice blade. However, the learning goes quick and over the past few weeks I've sharpened 3 hunting knifes, 4 kitchen blades and and an EDC knife all at different angles and they have all gone from being fairly dull to slicing paper. The WE40 just works and there is a lot of bang for the buck with this system.
I did have a delivery issue where a few parts were missing, but WE took care of the problem and got everything resolved. Its nice to see customer service stepping up when an issue does arise.
If you’re looking for a compact, no-BS sharpener that actually works, the Venture is a strong option—especially for EDC, hunting, or kitchen touch-ups.
The standout feature is the guided angle system (20°), which takes the guesswork out of sharpening. You don’t need to be a pro to get a clean, consistent edge, and that’s where this thing really shines. It uses a dual-sided setup (diamond + ceramic), so you can go from dull to razor sharp pretty quickly without switching tools. I did have to purchase a replacement 20 degree guide since I used this sharpener frequently.
Makes a perfect upgrade from the 500 stone that comes with sharpener!
This was an important piece to own for accuracy and efficiency in sharpening. I would include it with the purchase of the main sharpener and save me the trouble of having to double back and get it later. This was a less than ideal experience to find out the WE 64 couldn't achieve this goal of low angle and small knife sharpening.
