I have tried a lot of “portable” sharpeners over the years and this is by far the best. Basically an easy to use guided wet stone. Love how easy it is to use and get a solid edge every time
The guides feel flimsy and don’t offer a tight space to keep the knife within the guides at the correct angle. Swapping out the guides and the stones is simple enough. The stones are ok, but I would not recommend this system for any of the powdered or “super” steel knives. Worked well with D2 and 1095, but really struggled with S30V and S90V and I just couldn’t get an edge on either steel. The D2 took a hair popping edge though. It’s a decent sharpener for the price and travel capability.
Best system I've ever used. Great job guys!
I use them in changing my angle from 20 to 17°. Started 100, 200,300, 600, 1500, couple of passes on the strop and it was good to go.that ventu/nomad sharpener is one heck of device
