I am giving this product only 4 stars only because I was unsuccessful in removing all of the scratches from the edge. The 9,6 and 3 micron paper worked great though and the glass surface was great! I now have a mirrored blade edge! The only thing I do not like is the fact that when you look at my blade, you can see a lot of fine scratches still there. I just bought a wide variety of stone grits and worked my way up from 600 all the way to 1500 and then the lapping paper. Now this is my first attempt, and it took me approximately 45 minuets to 1 hour per edge, of a double edged blade. It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete the process. I would say that I ran the abrasives across my blade about 50 times each, probably more. I went up in grit fineness each time. I have painted vehicles before so I used a similar process as to get a mirrored finish on a car without "orange peel." I was sharpening my blade about once a month with the 400/600 stones before I got my finer ones. Maybe I am using them wrong, but I don't THINK so. I am going to buy two more sets of these so I can have 3,6 and 9 micron paper all set on each one as to conserve lapping paper instead of just using a set and then peeling it off 3 times per knife. I feel that they will last for more than one knife. Overall I am happy with this product because my knife looks 10 times better mirrored and is 10 times sharper than it has ever been before!! Just have to figure out how to get rid of those pesky scratches.
