The 800/1000 Grit Diamond Stones are an excellent all-around finishing stone. They maintain the micro-serrations needed for a working edge but leave a refined enough finish to cleanly slice through delicate materials. These are a necessary step for a polished finish. These Diamond Stones have a break-in period of about 20 sharpening sessions and an average lifespan of 700 sharpenings.

These new stones are perfect to replace my worn out ones. But, I use the old ones as a buffer to finish. Should have replaced them sooner.

To me 800/1000 grit stones is a good finishing set of stones. I like the way it leaves the look of the edge after using the 1000 grit and still feel the sharpness. The next set of stones 1200/1600 seems to loose it sharpness on the edge.
