The Venture is okay, not the best portable sharpener. The guides do have limitation, I have been using it freehand.
Got a chance to sharpen a couple knives with my new Venture sharpener. Very easy to use with guides to keep angle consistent for a beginner. I was even able to give my cleaver a paper slicing edge. My first knife was very dull and some grinding dust got into the guides and left some marks on the cleaver. I believe this could be solved by putting painters tape on your blade before sharpening or cleaning the guides every few strokes. It was nice that it came with a strop as I feel this made a difference in "finishing" the edge.
I think the grits are fine, but there are no instruction on how to use the grits. this has been very frustrating. i wish someone could show me how to use the additional grits.
Hi Barry,
Thank you for your review. It looks like you have the Venture Pro sharpener. Here is a quick video showing how to change your stones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmaFd0lsd0E&list=PLRm8x9sCbpw28BkiAjHVrHGPpfIhxAaAo&index=3. It's part of the instructions playlist that you'll find if you scan the QR code on the box and the card inside the box.
I hope this helps. If you still have questions after watching the video, please reach out to us at support@wickededgeusa.com and we'll keep working with you to ensure you get the most out of your new sharpener.
Sincerely,
Clay
