How to Install and Use the Wicked Edge Blade Stabilizer
The Wicked Edge Blade Stabilizer is designed to improve clamping and sharpening stability, especially for long or flexible blades. It consists of two main components—the Blade Stop and the Blade Support—and comes with two Allen wrenches (one large, one small) for installation and adjustment.

Installing the Blade Stabilizer
- Ensure the Vise is in the unlocked position (lever up).
- Line up the two prongs of the Blade Stabilizer with the pins on the front of your Vise.
- Push forward firmly so the prongs engage with the pins and snap the Blade Stabilizer into place.
Using the Blade Stop
The Blade Stop replaces the Depth Key when sharpening small blades (under 1 inch from edge to spine):
- Loosen the pivot screw and flip the Blade Support up and out of the way.
- Flip the Blade Stop up so it sits between the jaws of the Vise.
- Set the spine of the blade on the Blade Stop shelf and clamp as usual.
Using the Blade Stop on Its Own
If you don’t need the Blade Support:
- Use the small Allen wrench to remove the set screw on the bottom of the unit.
- Detach the Blade Support.
- Reinstall the Blade Stop to use it as a standalone tool.
Using the Blade Support (For Long or Flexible Blades)
The Blade Support provides extra stability for long, flexible knives, such as fillet knives.
- Start by flipping the Blade Support (knife brace) up and out of the way.
- Clamp your blade as usual, positioning the belly near the back of the Vise—not in the middle or near the heel.
- Determine if the knife flexes enough to require the Blade Support.
- Hold the Blade Support in one hand and the large Allen wrench in the other.
- Position the V-notch of the Blade Support on the spine of the knife, as close to the handle as possible.
- Tighten the pivot screw securely to reduce blade movement.
Tip: Even with the support in place, always use light pressure and let the sharpening stones do the work.
