Edge Kit Convex Creation

I was successful in recreating a Chris Reeve "factory convex edge" with this kit with greater precision than the original factory edge, and at a lower angle. That in itself is very cool. When you remove the hard angle between the primary and secondary bevels (with a convex curve), the knives slice in a completely different way. This is really fun to play with on knives that are a little bit thick-behind-the-edge. The blades don't "feel" as sharp on the finger, but boy-oh-boy do they cut well. Shave well too. Maybe I need to try some finer lapping films?

The only downsides are that it takes a while to get to the finished product with 30/15 micron lapping films, and that the films are pretty expensive IMO. If a fellow only has a few convexed knives and doesn't sharpen them constantly...I'd think the cost is very reasonable. Taking the "freehand art" out of the equation when sharpening appeals to me.

A CRK with a v-edge just isn't the same as a CRK with a convex edge.
