My 20 degree glide broke after a few uses. I was very frustrated when that happened as a spent a lot of money on the sharpener
Thank you for your review. We're sorry for the frustation. It looks like the sonic weld between the two halves of the Knife Guide failed. We have created a warranty order to replace the guide and it will ship out right away. In the meantime, a drop of superglue will hold it together temporarily if you need to use the sharpener while you wait for the replacement guide to arrive.
We've seen a couple of recent reports from customers about that, so we've changed our QC to be more strict to prevent guides with weak welds from going out to customers.
I have used many different types of sharpening methods in the past, and the one thing that I know is that consistency on the edge angle is supremely important. Without consistency on one side to the other you cannot achieve a super Sharp knife. This design and type of sharpening stones is superb for in the field use, sharpening knives at home and most any other sharpening application I can think of. I very much enjoy the ease of change for the diamond versus the ceramic as well as the ability to use a leather strop. It feels good in the hand, once you get the method and motion down, it seems like second nature. One caveat, if you have a very thick knife it may not fit well within the guide. All of my kitchen knives fit well as well as most of my everyday carry knives fit well. I do have a few knives that are a little thicker and they do not fit well therefore they do not function with this unit. Getting that consistent Edge every time is what I think this unit excels at.
This thing is awesome. I have one arm due to a stroke and I can use this easily. It's so smooth. Amazing! I love it. I don't know what else to say about it. It's just everything that you described. It works and it works good
