My arms love the Wicked Edge 50/80 Stones!

I love the Wicked Edge 50/80 stones, and so do my arms! After I bought the Chisel Attachment, I started reprofiling my wood chisels. The bevels were in pretty bad shape and a couple had chips in the edge apex. It was taking a long time using my 100 grit stones and my shoulders would be hurting. So, I bought the WE 50/80 stones. Wow, what a difference they made! Reprofiling my chisels was so much quicker and easier. I was mad at myself for not buying them sooner.

The WE 50/80 stones also work great for reprofiling knife edge bevels. But you have to be careful because the WE 50/80 stones are very aggressive and remove a lot of steel.

Awesome!

Great for repairing jobs when people bring you severely damaged blades. Also perfect if you plan to do a serious regrind. Just be aware that the 50 grit is so aggressive that it might cause micro chipping - which is actually logical. If you want to avoid this (for example when doing a sub-10 degree grind) you might want to stop using these the moment just before you reach the apex of the blade and change to the 100 grit instead. This has proven to me to be the most effective.

the best stones I got

i got my 50/80 grit when Generation 3 was first available. When the stones were new they were fast and aggressive but over time these stones became less aggressive. I liked the way these stones moved metal fast at first, then slowly very slowly the stones after a couple of years stopped working the 50 grit even after using a tooth brush and dish soap would not take any metal off the knife at all. now i spray a light mist of alcohol on the stones after i use them and let the alcohol evaporate it works for me. My 50/80 grit took a long time "years" to brake it in to where it is now, but now i use the 50 grit stone exclusively on the 6" clever in my kitchen and clevers in restaurants i sharpen knives for. This set of stones has served me well and i have purchased more sets of 50 grit plates to put on blank paddles. 50/80 grit are great aggressive and broke in.
